Description:

Unusual pair of altar lanterns in Brazilian silver. Body of a quadrangular shape with curved sides, partially cast and decorated with rectangular reserves, one of which a door, decorated with scrolls with chiseled and lobed plant motifs with an escutcheon at the centre. The four corners are decorated with Solomonic columns terminating in pinacles on both sides. Top in the shape of a cupola with two levels, partially cast and decorated with chiseled acanthus leaves, winding up in a pine cone. Base with a lobed rim, heightened on various levels, with plain bands and fences alternating with plant motifs. Its connection to the body is made with a protruding knot that is lobed and pearl-shaped. With a metal spike. Defects and losses. (2)
