D. João representado com busto voltado a três quartos para a direita, fardado e condecorado. Na parte inferior do retrato está uma figura da Amazona Lísia, sentada sobre nuvens, encostada a um escudo com o brasão de armas real e tendo ao peito um pequeno escudo com as cinco quinas; à direita da divindade, senta-se um Amorino, segurando a esfera armilar. Junto à base do retrato figura a subscrição latina: "STAT MAGNA NOMINIS UMBRA" (Eis a sombra de um grande nome). Apresentam as seguintes inscrições que identificam o autor da gravura, à direita, "F. Bartolozzi sculpsit 1809", e, à esquerda, o autor da composição pictórica original "D. Pellegrini pinxit".

    Copper engraving, engraved and dotted, printed on paper, 1809
    D. João depicted with bust facing three-quarters to the right, dressed in uniform and decorated. At the bottom of the portrait is a figure of the Amazon Lísia, seated on clouds, leaning against a shield with the royal coat of arms and wearing a small shield with the five quinas on the chest; to the right of the deity sits a Cupid, holding the armillary sphere. Next to the base of the portrait is the Latin subscription: "STAT MAGNA NOMINIS UMBRA" (Here is the shadow of a great name). They present the following inscriptions identifying the author of the engraving, on the right, "F. Bartolozzi sculpsit 1809", and, on the left, the author of the original pictorial composition "D. Pellegrini pinxit".

    D. João représenté avec un buste tourné aux trois quarts vers la droite, habillé en uniforme et décoré. Au bas du portrait se trouve une figure de l'Amazone Lísia, assise sur des nuages, appuyée contre un bouclier aux armoiries royales et portant un petit bouclier avec les cinq quinas sur la poitrine ; à droite de la divinité se trouve un Cupidon, tenant la sphère armillaire. À côté de la base du portrait se trouve l'inscription latine : "STAT MAGNA NOMINIS UMBRA" (Ici se trouve l'ombre d'un grand nom). Ils présentent les inscriptions suivantes identifiant l'auteur de la gravure, à droite, "F. Bartolozzi sculpsit 1809", et, à gauche, l'auteur de la composition picturale originale "D. Pellegrini pinxit".
