Sinopse: Em 2016, para a reabertura do Núcleo de Santo André do Museu Carlos Machado de Ponta Delgada, o artista foi convidado a criar uma obra em pedra gravada (Animalia, Vegetalia, Mineralia, 265x307 cm) que, de acordo com o programa, deveria fazer referência à sua criação e à sua história. Nas diversas pesquisas que o artista efetuou no Museu, Systema Naturae, a obra, em quatro densos volumes de Carl von Linné, fascinou-o e levou-o a desenhar as mais variadas formas de vida vegetal e animal – plantas, seres do mar e seres da terra e do céu - de onde resultou a conceção da obra doada, pertencente ao conjunto da vida animal, com o seu ecossistema no mar.

Biografia:
Nasceu na Ilha de São Miguel, Açores, em 1959. Vive e trabalha em Lisboa e nos Açores. Estudou gravura na Slade School of Fine Art, Londres, 1995/7. Em 1998 participou no Kaleidoscope Program: The Royal University College of Fine Arts, Estocolmo e Tavira Print Workshop. Desde 1997 é representado pela Galeria 111, Lisboa. Desde 2000 colabora com a Galeria Fonseca Macedo, Arte Contemporânea, Ponta Delgada. Em 1998 decorou a Capela do Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo, Ponta Delgada, Açores. Em 2014 realizou a obra Pietá para integrar a Via Sacra da Sé Catedral de Angra do Heroísmo, Açores. Em 2015 foi-lhe atribuída a Insígnia Autonómica de Reconhecimento pela Assembleia Legislativa da Região Autónoma dos Açores. Em 2016 realizou um painel em pedra gravada, Animalia, Vegetalia, Mineralia, para o Núcleo de Santo André do Museu Carlos Machado, Ponta Delgada. Em 2019 realizou quatro obras sobre tela para o Hotel Verde Mar, Ribeira Grande, Açores. Participou nas exposições coletivas: The Large Print Show, (1997) Wolsey Art Gallery, Ipswich; Fish Out of Water (1997),Curwen Gallery, Londres; Uma Visão sobre os Anos 80-90 (1999), Fundação PLMJ, Lisboa; Geração XXI - Cinco Artistas Portugueses em Macau (2002), China; Arte Portuguesa em Brasília (2005), Brasil; 50 Anos de Gravura Portuguesa (2006), SNBA, Lisboa.

    Synopsis: In 2016, for the reopening of the Santo André Center of the Carlos Machado Museum in Ponta Delgada, the artist was invited to create a work in engraved stone (Animalia , Vegetalia, Mineralia, 265x307 cm) which, according to the program, should make reference to its creation and history. In the various researches that the artist carried out at the Museum, Systema Naturae, the work, in four dense volumes by Carl von Linné, fascinated him and led him to draw the most varied forms of plant and animal life – plants, sea creatures and beings of the earth and the sky - which resulted in the conception of the donated work, belonging to the set of animal life, with its ecosystem in the sea.

    Biography:
    Born on São Miguel Island, Azores, in 1959. Lives and works in Lisbon and the Azores. Studied engraving at the Slade School of Fine Art, London, 1995/7. In 1998 he participated in the Kaleidoscope Program: The Royal University College of Fine Arts, Stockholm and Tavira Print Workshop. Since 1997 he has been represented by Galeria 111, Lisbon. Since 2000, he has collaborated with Galeria Fonseca Macedo, Arte Contemporânea, Ponta Delgada. In 1998 he decorated the Chapel of the Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo, Ponta Delgada, Azores. In 2014, he created the work Pietá to integrate the Via Sacra of the Cathedral of Angra do Heroísmo, Azores. In 2015 he was awarded the Autonomous Insignia of Recognition by the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores. In 2016, he created an engraved stone panel, Animalia, Vegetalia, Mineralia, for the Santo André Center of the Carlos Machado Museum, Ponta Delgada. In 2019, he created four works on canvas for the Hotel Verde Mar, Ribeira Grande, Azores.
