Sou a Luísa Picão Caldeira, fotógrafa portuguesa a viver em Londres, onde estudo “Photojournalism and Documentary Photography” na University of the Arts London (LCC), entrando agora no segundo ano da licenciatura.
O meu percurso profissional começou com um curso em Roma com o Steve McCurry, uma experiência que transformou o meu olhar e portfólio. De seguida outro curso em Londres: Fashion Styling and Photography na Vogue, Condé Nast.
Tenho trabalhado em várias áreas fotográficas desde: campanhas, eventos, casamentos, batizados e shootings privados… mas é na fotografia documental que encontro a minha verdadeira voz artística, procurando sempre captar realidades humanas e sociais com autenticidade e proximidade.

Esta artista foi seleccionada a partir de um conjunto de inscrições nas redes sociais da CAPITI. O João Pinharanda, diretor artístico do Maat, o João Pinto Ribeiro, CEO do Palácio do Correio Velho e a Mariana Saraiva, Presidente da CAPITI, depois de conhecerem cada uma das obras inscritas, consideraram que esta peça se enquadrava no âmbito das obras expostas nos últimos 8 anos.     This photograph was taken in May 2025, in the fishing village of Camogli, Italy. Known for its colourful houses and its community life by the sea, this image marks the beginning of the bathing season: the soft light heralds the arrival of summer and creates a classic atmosphere, where daily routines intersect with the seasonal rhythm of holidays. The famous phrase “Il dolce far niente” reflects the Mediterranean lifestyle of living slowly, savouring time, which I aim to convey through this image.

    I am Luísa Picão Caldeira, a Portuguese photographer living in London, where I am studying Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at the University of the Arts London (LCC), now entering the second year of my degree.
    My professional journey began with a course in Rome with Steve McCurry, an experience that transformed my perspective and portfolio. This was followed by another course in London: Fashion Styling and Photography at Vogue, Condé Nast.
    I have worked in various photographic fields since then: campaigns, events, weddings, christenings, and private shoots… but it is in documentary photography that I find my true artistic voice, always seeking to capture human and social realities with authenticity and closeness.

    This artist was selected from a group of entries on CAPITI’s social media. João Pinharanda, Artistic Director of Maat, João Pinto Ribeiro, CEO of Palácio do Correio Velho, and Mariana Saraiva, President of CAPITI, after reviewing each of the submitted works, considered that this piece fitted within the scope of the works exhibited over the past eight years.
