Com inúmeras exposições nacionais e internacionais, pode-se destacar a sua participação no The Second Internacional Contemporary Art Fair em Londres, 1985; na Feira Internacional de Arte Contemporânea (FIAC 82); na exposição da Colecção Mário Soares no Museu do Chiado, 1996; e na exposição Les Trente Ans de la Galerie Jacob na Galerie Jacob em Paris, 1996. Foi agraciado com a Ordem da Cruz de Santiago da Espada pelo Presidente da República Portuguesa, e com o Grau de Officier des Arts et des Lettres pelo Governo Francês. Em 1990 constitui a Fundação Manuel Cargaleiro.

With numerous national and international exhibitions, we can highlight its participation in The Second International Contemporary Art Fair in London, 1985; at the International Contemporary Art Fair (FIAC 82); in the exhibition of the Mário Soares Collection at the Chiado Museum, 1996; and in the exhibition Les Trente Ans de la Galerie Jacob at Galerie Jacob in Paris, 1996. He was awarded the Order of the Cross of Santiago da Espada by the President of the Portuguese Republic, and the Degree of Officier des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government. In 1990, he created the Manuel Cargaleiro Foundation.
