  • Literature: Artista francês de grande projecção internacional, Armand Pierre Fernandez nasce em Nice em 1928. Entre 1946 e 1951, frequenta a Escola Nacional de Artes Decorativas de Nice e a Escola do Louvre em Paris. Os seus primeiros trabalhos são de cariz surrealista, passando depois por uma fase abstracta, influenciado pelos trabalhos de Nicolas de Stael e Poliakoff. Frequentou o meio artístico de Nova York, nomeadamente com Marcel Duchamp. Notabilizou-se na exploração de novos materiais e técnicas inovadoras como mármore sintético, poliester, plexiglas, etc. Inicia nos anos 60 os primeiros trabalhos com acumulações, usando poliéster, tubos de tinta, nos anos 70 utiliza betão e nos anos 80 dedica-se a esculturas de ferro acumuladas, realiza murais e peças de grande envergadura. Está representado nos mais importantes museus de arte moderna de todo o mundo. Agraciado com a Legião de Honra pelo Presidente François Mitterrand em 1987. Em 1994 realizou uma exposição individual na Galeria 111.

    French artist of great international prominence, Armand Pierre Fernandez was born in Nice in 1928. Between 1946 and 1951, he attended the National School of Decorative Arts in Nice and the Louvre School in Paris. His first works were surrealist in nature, later going through an abstract phase, influenced by the works of Nicolas de Stael and Poliakoff. He frequented the artistic world of New York, particularly with Marcel Duchamp. He was notable for exploring new materials and innovative techniques such as synthetic marble, polyester, plexiglass, etc. He began his first works with accumulations in the 60s, using polyester and paint tubes, in the 70s he used concrete and in the 80s he dedicated himself to accumulated iron sculptures, creating murals and large-scale pieces. It is represented in the most important modern art museums around the world. Awarded the Legion of Honor by President François Mitterrand in 1987. In 1994 he held a solo exhibition at Galeria 111.
