"Fashion duo Alves/Gonçalves will sell house contents at online auction"

Although the auction will only take place next week, it is now possible to bid on the almost 300 pieces that comprise it.

It is the contents of a house, but it could well be an art gallery such as the pieces on auction. The famous fashion creative duo Manuel Alves and José Manuel Gonçalves has 286 pieces of art, decoration and furniture from the 20th century making up the “Alves/Gonçalves Collection”, which will be entitled to an online auction on March 24th by the auctioneer. Correio Velho Palace.

As a result of many years of travel and various interests, the "Manéis", as they are known in the industry, have accumulated a beautiful collection that they now place at the mercy of everyone. Speaking to the Observador, Manuel Alves confesses that the auction was already planned, as they looked at all the objects they had accumulated over so many years, claiming that “it doesn’t make sense to have so many things” and that “the need to change arises” , refers to the online newspaper.

Courtesy of Palácio do Correio Velho itself, it is possible to make a virtual visit to the Manéis house, room by room, and see many of the almost 300 pieces that are up for auction on display, also consulting the respective information sheet about them.

In the catalogue, available here , there are works by Luís Coquenão, Ana Jotta, David Rosado, Hans de Jong or Alex Katz. There are also ceramics by Rosenthal, a table by Oito Em Ponto, a sofa by architect Amanda Levete, chairs by Hayon or Gio Ponti, and several pieces by Hervé Van der Straeten.

“Leaving to others testimonies of an emotional life always searching for beauty and whose five senses were always exalted. A fashion creator must be surrounded by things that complete their daily life”, can be read in a note from Manuel Alves, in the collection’s catalogue.

The online auction only takes place on March 24th, at 7pm, but it is now possible to bid on the parts whose values have bidding bases that go up to 30 thousand euros.
